Novel about "a sensitive young nurse attached to an advanced hospital platoon" -- a MASH unit, essentially -- from D-Day through the end of the war in Europe. Per the jacket blurb, the author had herself been a Red Cross worker during the war, which no doubt informed her portrayal of "the true horror and false glory of war" and the "atmosphere of blood and death."
