(no dust jacket) [a good sound copy with perhaps a touch of weakness to the front hinge, light wear to corners, very slight fraying to cloth at top front joint]. The Welsh author's third book, somewhat in the vein of his first, "My People" (1915), which is now regarded by some critics as "perhaps the first genuinely modern work of Anglo-Welsh literature" (Wikipedia), and has been cited as a direct influence on the early work of Dylan Thomas. Evans was a controversial figure, widely reviled in Wales for his brutally satiric portrayals of his countrymen and of the Welsh establishment.
