[good solid book, top rear corner bumped, light dust-soiling to top edge, agent's label on front pastedown; jacket worn and soiled, and the exterior surface appears to have been subjected to some insect-nibbling, especially at the edges and spine ends, with some resulting paper loss thereabouts]. Novel about a zany theatrical family: "Alexandra Barton (Sandy), Queen of the Theater, thrice a grandmother but 'too young for mother parts,' her daughter Elisabeth, Elisabeth's husband, Dan, who plays juvenile leads, and the three children, Susan, James and Bangs, are a group of all-too-human human beings who will entertain you with their adventurous ups and downs in the theater and 'private life.'" Describing herself in the jacket blurb, the author states that four generations of her family had been in show business (although she also, rather confusingly, refers to herself as an "orphan"), and recalls: "I spent my childhood on trains and in a succession of theaters, hotels and boarding schools. A theater was a natural and homely place to me where some member of my family was always engaged in performing, writing or directing." This appears to have been her only book.
