(no dust jacket) [nice tight clean copy with minimal handling wear, teensy bump to bottom front corner, light age-toning to covers and edges of text block]. (B&W photographs) Van Druten's popular romantic comedy about a man, a witch and her cat, rather cutely adapted into a 1958 film starring Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak. The leads in the original 1950 Broadway production were Rex Harrison and his then-wife Lilli Palmer; Harrison is depicted in all three stills accompanying the text here, although Palmer (with cat) made the front cover photo (ordinarily concealed by the dust jacket, but fully on view here in this jacketless copy). As with most Random House published plays of this era, this first printing (stated) is much less common than the book club issue.
