[beautiful, as-new copy, with no discernible wear to either book or dust jacket]. (B&W graphics, color cover facsimiles) Beautifully-produced volume reproducing all the stories from the first five issues of "Creepy" magazine, originally published in 1964 and 1965 -- including all the full-color covers (thank you!) as well as some of the features, e.g. the "Dear Uncle Creepy" letters columns and the tacky ads for various goofy novelties. Introduction by Jon B. Cooke: "The Warren Revolution; the horrifying history behind the black-and-white world of Creepy." (And as someone who read these magazines when they were first published, I can attest that the reproductions here are much more stunning and vivid that the original printed-on-cheap-paper versions.) It's worth noting that the front cover of issue #1 is by the great caricaturist/cartoonist Jack Davis, and that the remaining four covers are all by the legendary fantasy artist Frank Frazetta; the stories themselves are illustrated by the likes of Reed Crandall, Joe Orlando, Al Williamson, Alex Toth, Gray Morrow, Angelo Torres, and others. Much of the story material was original, but they also presented adaptations of works by Edgar Allan Poe ("The Tell-Tale Heart"), Ambrose Bierce, Otto Binder, Bram Stoker, and others. **** NOTE that additional shipping charges will be requested for international shipping of this heavy book, or for Priority Mail service to U.S. destinations. If this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order. ****
