[minor shelfwear to base of spine, otherwise a tight clean copy; jacket spine slightly sun-darkened, minor chipping at top of spine]. Romantic comedy about a blind New York attorney and his relationship with his next-door neighbor, a free-spirited hippie girl, a liaison highly disapproved-of by his mother. The original Broadway production ran for almost three years, and earned a Tony Award for Blythe Danner (as the hippie chick); director Milton Katselas and actress Eileen Heckart were also nominated. (Among the performers who replaced the original cast members during its run was Gloria Swanson, who chewed the scenery as the disapproving mom during the 1971/72 season.) Katselas also directed the 1972 film version (screenplayed by Gershe), which starred Edward Albert (son of Eddie) and Goldie Hawn (everybody's favorite hippie-chick of that era), with Heckart reprising her original Broadway role and picking up an Oscar to make up for not getting the Tony.
