[light shelfwear, spine very slightly turned, old price sticker (from San Francisco department store The White House) on rear pastedown; jacket shows some wear at spine ends and a couple of corners, one tiny tear and associated creasing at top of front panel, overall still bright and attractive]. "The kind of book teen-age girls like to read in one sitting," this mystery novel centers around Kerry Owen, "a very good secretary [who] also had an inquiring mind. And from her very first day as secretary in an engineering office doing important war work, Kerry's mind started asking questions: about the shambles in the files, the way papers were lost one day and turned up the next, and the furtive actions of a few people. Kerry did nothing but wonder until the most important blueprints were stolen." The author's speciality was "Books for Girls Interested in Careers," a half-dozen of which are listed on the rear panel of the dust jacket. (An oddity, perhaps worth nothing: it's stated on the title page that the book is "illustrated by Lester Kohs," yet there are no illustrations in the text.)
