[very light shelfwear to book, a nice clean copy; jacket browned at spine and along edge of flaps (as typical with RH published plays of this period), but no other significant wear]. (B&W photographs) This "melodramatic comedy," about a vaudeville couple with a mind-reading act who find themselves trapped in Czechoslovakia when the Russians take over in 1948, was the penultimate stage appearance of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. When the play concluded its five-month run on Broadway, they took it on the road, playing engagements in Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore and elsewhere into March 1957. By this time, having starred in over two dozen plays together over the course of about thirty years, they were an institution -- so much so that this play was actually dedicated to them!
