This book presents "the full story of the complicated life of an extraordinary man [and] is equally Although his fame has undoubtedly faded in recent decades, for many years Arthur Murray's name was virtually synonymous with dancing: the Arthur Murray Dancing Schools, co-founded by he and his wife/partner in the 1920s, was franchised across the country, and their weekly variety program, "The Arthur Murray Party," had a ten-year run (1950-1960) on network TV. This particular copy of her book, in fact, is linked directly to the TV show: laid in is a typed note from Kathryn Murray, on her monogrammed note paper, confirming that the inscribee, actor Gene Barry, was "a charming guest and gave a highly entertaining performance." The note is dated May 2, 1960, and expresses to Barry that she hopes "you'll be able to view yourself tomorrow night."
