(brick-orange paper-covered boards; no dust jacket, probably as issued) [light foxing to front-cover paper lable, faint stain at right edge of front cover, small black smudge on rear cover]. This short poem (reprinted from the November 1985 issue of "Poetry" magazine), illustrated with four beautiful linoleum cuts, was the third of four limited editions of this Armenian-American poet's works to be issued by this small press. Balakian won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Laid in to this copy is Christmas card (apparently sent to the book's one-time owner), containing a brief poem ("I Sing of a Maiden") and illustrated on the front by a wood engraving by Barnard Taylor; handwritten inside is "Greetings of the Season from Ann and Barnard." (The card, also printed at The Press of Appletree Valley, is in Near Fine condition, the only blemish being a tiny brown stain at the right edge of the front.) (linoleum cuts) SIGNED on the limitation page by the author/poet and the illustrator; "Designed and printed at The Press of Appletree Valley. The binding is by Pam and Don Rash. This is copy number: O." [It's unclear whether that handwritten number is a zero or the letter O.] Signed by Author & Illustrator
