[light shelfwear, light age-toning to edges of text block; jacket has some shallow chipping along top edge, minor edgewear along bottom of front panel; note that this jacket has been transferred from another copy of the book]. (An Inner Sanctum Mystery) Series INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the front endpaper, a self-deprecating inscription expressing to the inscribees "the optimistic thought that you might be able to endure a little more of my fiction." A murder mystery (the author's second) with a clever, albeit contrived, set-up: a guy calls a private detective and warns him of an impending murder that will take place that night at the caller's house, which will then be staged to appear as though it was committed by the caller, and confirmed by the subsequent discovery of the caller's corpse accompanied by an incriminating "suicide" note. [NOTE, for what it's worth, that the author's last name is misspelled on the exterior of the jacket -- both front panel and spine!] Signed by Author
