[beautiful clean copy with no discernible wear; looks like it's been living in a box in the dark since 1934]. (B&W halftone photos, cartoon illustrations) 16-page (including covers) promotional booklet, measuring 8-1/2" x 11-1/4", touting the amazing life and "career," if you can call it that, of the self-proclaimed-and-promoted "Worlds Champion Gate Crasher." Connolly, who had a bit of a rough young life (death of both parents and his sister by the time he was ten years old, most of his childhood spent in an orphanage, etc.) and lost an eye in some unspecified manner when he was 18, apparently decided that his life's ambition was to "see everything worth seeing and never pay a dime." So -- he started figuring out creative ways to crash prize-fights, horse races, baseball games, political conventions, etc., and became world-famous (if he does say so himself) doing it. Most of this booklet, printed in two-column format, consists of reprints and reproductions of news items, sports column entries, cartoons, photos, etc., all documenting his gate-crashing exploits. He even did a little Hollywood acting, with small roles in THE BARKER (1928) and BE YOURSELF! (1930). Quite a character! Today he'd no doubt have a YouTube channel and/or a major TikTok presence, and of course a full line of branded merchandise.
