(no dust jacket) [moderately shelfworn book, slight bumping to corners, some foxing to first few pages, spine cloth a little faded; former owner's initials plus date & place of purchase written in ink along edge of rear pastedown]. ("How to Know Him" series) Series (frontispiece portrait) A wide-ranging selection from the works of Daniel Defoe, with critical and biographical commentary -- including the editor's admission that "these selections are inadequate and not fairly representative simply because of Defoe's almost unrivaled copiousness and versatility." One of the less common volumes, it seems, in this publisher's "How to Know Him" series devoted to numerous individual (male) authors. (They do not appear to have bothered to issue a companion "How to Know Her" series.)
