[minimal wear to book, former owner's name and date of purchase written at top of front endpaper; the jacket shows only light wear to extremities, with three short closed edge-tears, all internally tape-reinforced along all edges and folds, and a tiny pull-tear near the base of the spine]. (pen and ink drawings with color highlights) A charming children's book about a Chow puppy who's shunned and insulted by the other animals on his farm due to his unusual, bear-like appearance. "After a while Chiang began to believe he *was* a bear," so he set off into the forest, where "he met a family of real bears -- the ant-eating, tree-climbing kind -- with whom he had some comical adventures before he came to realize who and what he was." Very uncommon in the dust jacket, or for that matter as a non-ex-library copy.
