[a good sound clean copy, light shelfwear only; the jacket, however, is heavily spotted and stained, mostly on the spine and rear panel (although its presentability is much enhanced by a new mylar jacket cover), with a small chip at the top of the rear panel]. Sort of an authorized version of Molnar's most popular works, all "newly revised and rewritten, and appear[ing] here in the distinguished translations selected by the great playwright" himself -- who according to the jacket blurb was "at present" living in New York City, although he actually died in April of the year this book was issued. Contents (with translators noted): "Actor from Vienna" (Barrows Mussey); "President" (Sidney Howard); "Waxworks" (Arthur Richman); "Arthur" (English text by P.G. Wodehouse); "Blue Danube" (Sam Jaffe); "The Good Fairy" (Jane Hinton); "Anniversary Dinner" (Barrows Mussey); "Game of Hearts" (English text by P.G. Wodehouse). The last-named work was "a brand new play, written in America," where he had lived since 1940. Most of these plays had not, at that time, been professionally produced in the U.S., with the notable exception of "The Good Fairy," which had a respectable Broadway run in the 1931/1932 season, and was the basis for the 1935 film adaptation, directed by William Wyler and starring Margaret Sullavan. ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this moderately heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.****
