(dark blue buckram with gold-stamped lettering and decoration, white and gold logo; no dust jacket, possibly as issued) [slight bumping to upper corners, gilt lettering somewhat dulled but stil an attractive copy; the front hinge is a little weak]. (B&W photographs, facsimiles, tables) Company history by the company president, and about what you'd expect: lots of dates, facts, statistics, etc. Heavily illustrated with photographs of various car models, manufacturing plants (inside and out), company executives, happy employees, and so on. The author joined the company in 1911 and served as its president from 1915 until 1933 when, having been ousted from the financially troubled company and in personal debt to the tune of $350,000, he committed suicide by shooting himself in the heart. (His history of the company was first published, under the same title, in 1918, in an edition of 30,000 copies, the present work being "an amplified second edition" issued in light of the "numerous requests for additional copies received constantly during the past few years.") Laid in to this copy is a folded offprint of a vintage Studebaker advertising, dated (in pencil) 1906.
