[minimal wear to book, one-time owner's address label on front endpaper, along with a small bookseller's label (Vroman's, Pasadena); the jacket is modestly surface-worn with a few faint scratch-lines]. (color photographs, endpaper maps) A nice color-photo tour of Hawaii, with a brief introductory essay about its history and some of its points of interest. Half a century later, the book is of largely nostalgic interest, with the islands today being far more (over) developed than they were in 1973 -- but also serves as a reminder of a time before the Internet, social media, Instagram, Google Maps and the rest of it, when to enjoy the beauty of a distant location you either had to (a) go there, or (b) buy a book like this, and experience it vicariously. Are we better off, now I wonder. ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this moderately heavy volume; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.****
