[minor wear to lower extremities, and the binding is starting to split a little at the lower front hinge; the jacket has a bit of soiling on the rear panel]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the title page: "For Dan & Madeleine, / With admiration. / Fondly, / Millard." A compendium of screenwriting wisdom from the veteran writer, who received his first credits on several UPA cartoons in the late 1940s, fronted for the blacklisted Dalton Trumbo on the cult classic GUN CRAZY, and was Oscar-nominated twice for screenplays written under his own name: for TAKE THE HIGH GROUND (1953) and BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK (1954). In addition to Kaufman's own experiences and advice, the text is "augmented" with brief essays by thirteen more contemporary screenwriters, among them Alex Cox, Larry David, Scott Frank, Nick Kazan, Callie Khouri, Phil Alden Robinson, Eric Roth, and Robin Swicord. The inscribees are fellow screenwriter Daniel Taradash and his wife. Signed by Author
