[minor wear to book at extremities, a few slightly dog-eared lower page corners, non-authorial gift inscription on front endpaper; the jacket is a little bit on the tattered side, with various tiny nicks and chips along the edges (B&W photographs, diagrams, facsimiles) "TELEVISION has 'arrived'," announces the jacket blurb, "and with it an expert's authoritative book on the subject," intended for both professional and education use. "Television production -- the announcer -- the actor -- the director -- the producer -- the writer -- make-up -- lighting -- camera technique -- and hundreds of pointers and tricks of the trade that could be USEFUL TO YOU in this fascinating and remunerative new field, TELEVISION." (Love that "remunerative"!) The author, at the time, was a director at the Los Angeles TV station KTTV. The photographs in the book -- a number of which are wide shots showing the production crew bunched up around the tiny, tiny sets -- are wonderfully evocative of the primitive nature of early television.
