(corner-clipped) [minor shelfwear, light dust-soiling to top edge; the jacket is moderately worn at edges, with a teensy bit of paper loss at the spine ends and at the upper left corner of the rear panel]. (New Americans Series: Racial Studies, Volume Six) Series (B&W photographs) One in a series of "sympathetic but critical" analyses of the impact of various newly-arriving ethnic/national groups on American society, in recognition of the fact that "America is being remade from different racial material" and that "the new immigration differs in blood and in 'mind,' perhaps in soul, from the older immigration." (The Magyars are from Hungary, in case you're wondering.) Despite the publisher's ambitious plans for this "New Americans" series, announced on the front jacket flap, the series apparently never got beyond the first half-dozen announced volumes; none of the "other manuscripts in hand for publication at a later date" seem to have ever seen that date arrive.
