Bowles's highly-regarded tale of alienation and existential despair, set in North Africa and the Sahara. A book that's definitely not to everyone's taste -- and if you don't like the book, you're REALLY going to want to avoid the 1990 film adaptation directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, a lushly-photographed package of pure cinematic ennui. NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket, which has not been factored in to our pricing.
