[nice clean as-new book, with just one itty-bitty dent in the bottom edge of the rear cover and a very slight bumping to the top rear corner; the jacket is similarly nice, with only a touch of wear along the top edge, and some very slight wrinkling at the top of the spine]. (B&W photographs) Despite the unusual top-billing for her collaborator (as opposed to the typical "as told to" credit), this is truly Myrna Loy's autobiography -- told in her voice, interspersed with occasional comments from "friends from her childhood and youth as well as reminiscences by colleagues such as William Powell, Loretta Young, Rosalind Russell, Spencer Tracy, Burt Reynolds, and Cary Grant." The opening paragraph sets the tone and establishes her engaging voice: "In a business that thrives on public exposure, I've managed to get away with being a very private person. How is that possible Well, for one thing, I kept my mouth shut, which wasn't as easy as it sounds. Louella Parsons and that bunch were always sniffing around, but they gave me the willies. I wouldn't let them in my house." She goes on to write that she wanted her book to be "complete and candid, [but] without being one of those bed-to-bed marathons that keep appearing." ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this moderately heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.
