(no dust jacket, but encased in a nice-looking facsimile reproduction of the original first edition jacket; see 2nd image posted with this listing) [a good sound copy with modest wear to edges and extremities, one-time owner's address label on front pastedown, a bit of staining to rear endpapers]. Reprint of this early work by MacDonald, originally published in London in 1924 and the U.S. in 1925. It was his first mystery novel to be published under his own name, and also the first adventure of Colonel Anthony Gethryn of Scotland Yard, "one of the most unusual crime investigators in detective literature." NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket, which has not been factored in to our pricing. (And isn't it too bad that somebody didn't spell-check the design of this reissue jacket, to get the author's name correct)
