From a contemporary review: "A party of Englishmen and women, bound on a wildgoose chase after a worthless relative, and carrying with them two boxes full of gold, are pursued by a gang of desperadoes, and at last brought triumphantly through their troubles" by the courage and enterprise of the title character, the caption of the boat they've hired to get them safely out of the jungle.
