(no dust jacket, but encased in a nice-looking facsimile reproduction of the original first edition jacket; see 2nd image posted with this listing) [nice clean tight copy with just the barest best of wear to the extremities, a couple of tiny black smudges on the spine; embossed "Library of" stamp of original owner, MGM writer/producer Carey Wilson, on both endpapers]. Depression-Era crime/hardboiled classic, the basis for two very good (but very different) movie adaptations: Nicholas Ray's THEY LIVE BY NIGHT (1948) and Robert Altman's THIEVES LIKE US (1974). NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket, which has not been factored in to our pricing.
