Book illustrated with 93 plates on coated paper in black and in color, reproducing the works of Kiyonobu the first, Kiyonobu the second, Moronobu, Moroshige, Toyonobu, Masanobu, Kiyomitsu.; and a color fold-out frontispiece on brown paper. Preceded by 122 pages of explanatory text. Guards shown in black. Copy bound in the Japanese style, the text sheets are lined on Japanese paper. Under blue canvas cover with three flaps closing with two ivory fasteners. Condition: faded back cover. Solid volume. Color plates have protective tissue. Water-stain on back-cover and last few pages of plates, resulting also in light curling of last few plates. Some abrasions to corners of a few plate pages, where they were probably stuck together at some time, not affecting illustrations. Two pages with paper loss to corners, also not affecting illustrations. The solid blue canvas cover has some shelf wear, spine has faded, title is still well readable. -- Beautiful publication published in Tokyo by the Japanese writer Yonejir Noguchi, dedicated to the first artists of ukiyo-e.
