Early printing listing only 5 juvenile books by Bemelmans on bibliography page, the last one in list is Madeline and the Bad Hat (published 1956). Madeline and Gypsies was first published 1959. The next book would have been Madeline in London published in 1961, but does not appear on the list. So this copy is published between 1959 and 1961. Green cloth cover has modest wear to corners and spine caps but clean, bright, and in very good+ condition. Boards and spine are straight. Binding is tight. Former owner's name in corner of front end sheet. Pages are clean and pristine. Dust jacket has tattered and torn corners with light soiling and faint damp stain to back panel but overall in good+ condition. DJ flap is price clipped. DJ protected by a brand new, clear, acid-free mylar cover. We add mylar covers to all books with DJs to preserve the DJs and add luster to magnify their beauty.
