The author was a CBC producer who worked with Jane Stafford for a segment of "Fifth Estate" about her abusive marriage to Billy Stafford, which eventually led to his death by her hand. She was acquitted of murder, but later sent to jail for manslaughter for a couple of months after the Crown appealed. Jane herself was found dead of a gunshot wound in 1992. 384 pp. including Index.
