Original navy cloth over boards with yellow lettering and decoration. Blue pictorial dustjacket features illustration of a large orange sun in the distance with grey lettering. Dustjacket has edge and corner wear, and three 1/2" edge tears, as well as several tiny ones. Top 1/2" of jacket at head of spine is missing. Bottom edges of first leaves to pg.16, pgs.43-76, pgs. 189-204, and pgs. 301-316 have minor waterstaining (not affecting text). This novel tells about the life of a female Finnish immigrant to Canada in the years leading up to WWI. At least one critic accuses McClung of racism based on this book. Scarce in dustjacket. 316 pp.
