In the 1880's, Henry Ketchum formed the Chignecto Marine Transport Railway Company in a bid to build the first ship railway in the world - a shortcut for ships from the Bay of Fundy to the Northumberland Strait at Baie Verte. In 1891, they were three-quarters finished the project, but the money ran out, and the government wouldn't give them any more. 130 pp. including Bibliography.
