Missing front free endpaper. Front hinge cracked. Rear hinge starting. This book has a heavy religious bent, and is the memoir of an officer killed in the attack on the Redan at Sebastopol during the Crimean War. He spent time in Canada between 1846 and 1852. His letters made racist comments about the Blacks and Indigenous people in Halifax. 371 pp.
