287 pp, Simon & Schuster 1963, stated first printing, black cloth with orange lettering on spine. Spine slightly cocked, a little edge wear to top and base of spine, corners, bottom edges, slight spotting on top edge. The front end paper has two stamps from a rental library -- no other markings. Three pages shown signs of being dog-eared but are laying flat. A few pages have a small stain in upper right corner. Jacket is in new Brodart and has a little edge wear, shallow chipping at top of spine, slight rubbing. It also shows a little rippling, likely from dampness. Overall, a nice copy of the author's first novel, which was the basis for the films starring Michael Caine. "The Ipcress File is a major event - the American debut of an ingenious and idiosyncratic English writer, already wildly acclaimed for this off-beat and totally modern spy thriller. The Ipcress File is a spyworks with the lid off: daring, suspenseful, cheeky, comic. There has never been anything like it for sheer, unabashed effrontery." - Simon & Schuster jacket blurb.; Ex-Library; 7" - 9" Tall
