Yellow boards with red lettering on spine, 187 pp. Slight spine slant, slight edge wear, a little darkening along top edge of boards, small spot to top edge, boards just a little bowed. Jacket shows some darkening and edge wear, a little more so along spine. A little chipping at top and base of spine and along lower part of the fold for front flap. 3/4" dampstain on spine. Overall, an attractive copy. Sequel to "The Caves of Steel". Back cover of the jacket has a photo of the Good Doctor looking quite young.
"Elijah Baley had never had a tougher assignment. One of New York's ablest plainclothes detectives, he had been sent to the planet Solaria to investigate a murder and also to uncover the weakness in Solarian society that would be Earth's weapon on the inevitable day when the Solarians attacked. The hardest part was just being on Solaria: to an Earthman, brought up in the underground Cities, there was nothing more horrifying than empty space under the naked sun. Baley needed help desperately - and got it in the 'person' of R. Daneel Olivaw, a fantastically advanced and complex robot. Together they pitched into the thorny job of tracking down a murderer in a community where social transactions were carried on by means of television viewing. (Solarians accepted nudity as proper, but shrank in horror from the idea of actually 'seeing' one another under any circumstances.) As the teammates frantically narrowed down the number of suspects, Baley fought his terror and groped for Earth's salvation."; 7" - 9" Tall
