At best this is a copy to say you have a copy of this rare Georgia volume of poetry. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 174 pages; Poems by the Charlton brothers is one of the earliest collections of poems by Georgians. Robert Milledge Charlton was born in Savannah, GA and died there at the age of 46. In that short time he was a lawyer a GA state legislator, mayor of Savannah twice, a GA Supreme Court judge, and a US senator. In 1839 he published this volume of poems, including those of a deceased brother. He also contributed largely, both in prose and verse, to the pages of the "Knickerbocker Magazine," the best known of his writings for periodicals being " Leaves from the Portfolio of a Georgia Lawyer."
