After Bowdich's death, while the two were in Africa, Mrs. Lee supported herself and her children through writing, mainly on birds and animals including a work on taxidermy. The African Crusoes was published initially in England as The African Wanderers. I am assuming that this is the First American edition, though it may be a later printing. Relatively uncommon in any edition. Not in Blockson.
