Stapled, red, pictorial wraps with black and red titles and image of stereotyped blackface minstrel. This book has light, general wear with some wear near staples and two bits of writing in pencil on white hat brim. Minstrelsy began around the time of the Civil War and persisted into the 1960's and 1970's. Though racially charged in its conception, minstrel shows were performed by both black and white entertainers and they probably preserved many songs that were African-American in origin. This book is a complete minstrel show with both a script and musical numbers. There are some rather poorly reproduced photos on pp. 5 and 7 of famous minstrel performers including the great, African-American singer and comedian, Bert Williams. ; B&W Illustrations and Musical Notation; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 47 pages
