Light gray wraps with B&W drawing of Jones along with black titles and decoration. Book has only light, general wear and decoration. It is signed lightly and dated at top of front cover by former owner Hugh Reild Scott of Reidsville, North Carolina. Scott was a prominent North Carolina farmer, lawyer and politician. This book came from his estate and the signature may be more of an asset than a detriment. It is likely that Scott heard Jones preach and may have known him. The book is in very attractive condition -- VG+ to NF. Sam Jones was a famous 19th century Methodist evangelist from Cartersville, Georgia. The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville was built especially for Jones after the evangelist's preaching had converted Thomas Ryman. Jones' home, Roselawn, is a tourist attraction in Cartersville. There are many varied editions of Jones' sermons. I cannot find another copy of this one, and I would be surprised if a better one exists. ; B&W Drawings; Small 8vo 7" - 8" tall; 313 +Ads pages; Signed by Notable Personage, Unrelated
