This book was evidently desgned to cover anything a late 19th century homemaker needed to know. The subtitle tells it all: including receipts for cooking, making preserves, perfumery, cordials, ice creams, inks, paints, dyes of all kinds, cider, vinegar, wines, spirits, whiskey, brandy, gin, etc., and how to make imitations of all kinds of liquors : together with valuable gauging tables : the collections, testing, and improvements on the receipts extending over a period of thirty years. There seems to be an emphasis on alcoholic preparations. This is a fascinating book. Condition is G+, with wear to the covers, some toning and foxing to the pages, some pencil notes, but still securely bound. Included are some loose clippings. There is a bookseller's label on the front pastdown, Great Western Publishing Agency. A rather rare book. ; 12mo 7" - 7" tall; 311 + 6 PP ads pages
