Neill Smith Brown, Tennessee Governor, Autograph on Land Grant, 1849

This is an 1849, Tennessee Land Grant to Lot Akin of Decatur County. It is signed by N. S. Brown (Neill Smith Brown) the Governor of Tennessee and by W. B. A. Ramsey, the Secretary of State. Neill Brown was Governor from 1847-1849. W. B. A. Ramsey was the brother of John Ramsey who wrote the well-known Annals of Tennessee. The Document has a good bit of wear on edges and folds with some small holes on the fold lines. It is toned with some foxing. Neil Brown's signature is large and in excellent condition. Ramsey's is slightly smaller but also in very attractive condition. Nice piece for display. ; Manuscripts; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 1 pages
