This is a menu from the USSTennessee, a 32,300 ton battleship was built at the New York Navy Yard. Commissioned in June 1920, she operated in the Atlantic area for a year and then transferred to the U.S. Pacific coast, where she was based for nearly two decades. As a unit of the Battleship Force, she participated in regular training and fleet exercises, winning the "E" for excellence in gunnery during the mid-1920s. In 1925, the USS Tennessee transfered to the Pacific to visit New Zealand and Australia. With tensions with Japan rising, her base was moved forward to Pearl Harbor in 1940. (Wikipedia). Based in Bremerton Washington at Thanksgiving of 1933, the men on the Tennessee were treated to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, including cigarettes with coffee and dessert. The menu is a very attractive folded 5 by 7 embossed card with a gold turkey. orange pumpkin and Fall leaves. A picture of the ship is on the back. Condition is NF with a few very small stains (giblet gravy) on the back. The Tennessee was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Repaired and upgraded, she then saw duty in the Pacific the remainder of WWII. Thanksgiving dinners might not have been as lavish then.; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 4 pages
