With 13 plates, 12 of which depict campus scenes, and a tissue-guarded frontis photographic portrait of Harvard president Charles W. Eliot. Educated at Oxford's Pembroke College, George Birkbeck Hill was an English author, educator and editor. --- In full rust cloth-covered boards titling and cover illustration in gilt, top edge gilt. Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- The front free endpaper has been torn out, with a weakened front hinge, some chafing to cloth and with mildly rounded cover corners; otherwise a stable, sturdy copy.
