"First edition hardback, 1955, with unclipped jacket. This book has been awarded as a long-service presentation copy. In overall very good condition - dj is worn to upper edge with a few minor age-spots, spine tanned and spine head chipped; blue cloth boards, with gilt titles to spine, slightly worn to edges. Binding tight and appears virtually unread, no annotations or inscriptions - interesting beautifully hand-written gift inscription tipped-in at front endpapers signed by all members of the Devonshire Children's Committee 1948-1955 to Alderman John A. Day, Chairman of the Committee; hand-cut page-ends slightly tanned but text clean and clear throughout. The majority of pages have not been cut at the top at edge. Very scarce title in great, unused condition."
