The beautiful cover caught my eye, as did the plentiful photos of the dancers. This is not a program for a production. It's more of book celebrating 40 years of Balanchine's accomplishments and sponsored by the City Center of Music and Drama. The essay at the front is about the previous forty years of Balanchine's life as both a dancer and a director, but there is also no date. At first I thought it was 1988 because Balanchine took on the New York City Ballet in 1948. But I then noticed that he was still listed as a director. He died in 1983. Booklet measures 9" x 12" and has 41 counted pages, some of which described past performances. The booklet is clean and tightly bound showing a few isolated areas of edge wear to cover and a scratch to front cover and one on reverse side. Otherwise quite nice.
