Small paperback in crisp, clean condition found with a stowaway tucked inside. That's the little yellow pamphlet in the picture. This one shows some light soil to back, but is tightly bound with clean pages. The main booklet measures 5" wide by 7-1/4" tall and is designed with French wraps. It's clean as a whistle inside and out with just a bit of light toning to endpapers from inside flap of wraps. Illustrated throughout with instructive drawings. "Incredible speed and mystifying efficiency" are the author's description of the Japanese abacus. Though it appears to be a primitive machine, he claims that it can "exceed an electric calculating machine." He was aided in writing the manual by the Abacus Research Insitute. In addition to info on speed, it also offers a short history, and then explains the four processes of arithmetic worked out on the abacus. Chapters include many notes offering a scientific and theoretical explanation of the rules and fundamental principles. Includes instructions for decimals as well as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. 102 pages. The small pamphlet was published by the Satsumaya Abacus Co. It has 16 pages. Both written in English.
