Cowell & Hubbard:The Couturier Collection (Surprise Cover)

The cover of this trade catalog presented by Cowell and Hubbard, Cleveland, Ohio's premiere jewelry store from 1861. It looks like the title box is falling off and the cover is wrinkled. But, no! It's flat and smooth -- the design tricked the eye. What also makes this catalog so interesting is the pairing of expensive fine jewelry with couture clothing designed by Bill Blass, Adele Simpson, Ralph Lauren and others. Catalog measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" with 72 pages. There's also an order blank which folds into an envelope -- unused. Unfortunately, there is no date and no clues. I came to the conclusion that it might be from the 80's because of a long sleeved wedding dress with a hat.
