Minor shelf/edge wear to blue cloth boards with gilt titles - corners lightly bumped. Moderate shelf/edge wear, scuffing and dust soiling, a few small closed tears and rubbing to DJ - now in mylar. Illustrated endpapers are a reproduction of the Denver, Boulder & Western Railroad Company Employee Timetable charts. This is simply a great and beautiful book. A very well done illustrated history of the romantic Narrow Gauge lines running west from Boulder, Colorado. Detailed, comprehensive and a real pleasure to read. One of the rarest of Narrow Gauge lines, the Denver, Boulder & Western operated up Boulder canyon out of Boulder, started life as the thirteen mile Greeley, Salt Lake & Pacific in 1892. Advertised as The Switzerland Trail of America for its scenic wonderments - Lucius Beebe. 417 pages, 4 full color paintings by Howard Fogg inside the book plus the full color painting on the front panel of the DJ, more than 350 B&W photographs plus a set of two fold-out maps in the publishers pocket at the rear of the book. There are three locations printed on 2 maps. ( this was a bit confusing the way they stated it in the contents page and the map pocket, but its all there) To top it off, laid in is the publishers full size (8.5 x 11) 4 page color pamphlet announcing the limited publication of the book. The publishers pamphlet is rarely seen, they just did not survive. Signed by the Author on the statement of limitation page. A very nice signed limited edition copy despite the DJ flaws with rare related ephemera.LOC SS-TS-02
