Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to reddish-brown tweed cloth boards with black titles and accents - corners sharp. Lightly faded red topstain. Minor shelf/edge wear, foxing and a few closed tears to original clipped DJ - now in mylar. Brown and white illustrated endpapers. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Interior of book lists to Pay-off Pitch which was published in 1958. This copy is Binding variant 2 per Mattson, Format 2 per Axe. This is the 12th book of 23 books in the Chip Hilton Series. William "Chip" Hilton is the central character in a series of 24 sports novels for adolescent boys written by the successful college basketball coach and 1968 Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Clair Bee (18961983). In addition to Bee's authorship of the Chip Hilton series, he was also the author of several basketball and coaching technique books. The Chip Hilton series was published between 1948 and 1966 by Grosset & Dunlap, with Bee's last manuscript, Fiery Fullback, published in 2002.
