Vintage Wartime Hardcover with DJ. Reprint 1942 Center Books/Sun Dial Press New York 252 pages. Very Good+, in a VG+ DJ. Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to grey cloth boards with black titles and red accents - one corner has a very tiny bump. Minor shelf/edge wear and dust soiling (rear panel) to original DJ - now in mylar. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked with even toning to all pages due to wartime paper used. All text block page edges are top-stained red. Brett Halliday (July 31, 1904 February 4, 1977) is the primary pen name of Davis Dresser, an American mystery and western writer. Halliday is best known for the long-lived series of Michael Shayne mysteries he wrote, and later commissioned others to continue. This is the 1st Michael Shayne mystery. DJ is the same as the First Edition with artwork by Baron-Ancona. Colors of the DJ still pop and the book feels crisp. A superb wartime copy in DJ. LOC SSS-20
