Vintage Hardcover, First Edition, 1949 Wayne University Press, Detroit, Mich, 208 pages. Very Good+, in a VG DJ. Dark red tweed cloth boards with gilt spine titles - corners sharp. A touch of edge fading to the bottom edges of the boards. Moderate shelf/edge wear and a few small chips to original unclipped DJ - now in mylar. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. John Christian Lodge (August 12, 1862 February 6, 1950) was an influential politician from Detroit, Michigan, serving as mayor from 1922 to 1923, in 1924, and from 1927 to 1929, and spending over 30 years on the Detroit City Council. This is how he remembers Detroit (when it was called the Paris of the Midwest). The Lodge freeway was named for him. Very handsome First Edition in DJ. LOC SSS-23
