Hardcover with no dust jacket. Brown leather embossed boards with gilt decoration. Boards are detached and spine leather is pulling away (but present). Narrow areas of leather loss along the spine edges. Corners are bumped and worn. Gilt page edges are bright with light smudges and marks. Someone has used binding tape to secure the front marbled endpapers to the front board. Text block appears solid and complete with just the occasional light smudge and the former owner's name in pencil on the title page. Fold-out map is present and undamaged.
